One Book One Community is a community reading project based on the successful One City One Book project that takes place every year in Dublin and in cities across the world. As part of One Book One Community projects, children and their families are encouraged to read and discuss a particular book, along with supporting activities held in schools, libraries and in the community. Here at Rosmini we are proud to be involved in this wonderful project and to be working together with the other schools in our local area to promote a love of reading. One Book One Community is a fantastic literacy initiative and all of our 1st Year students were involved in this year’s  project which ran from 6th February to 3rd April. The aim is to get as many people, of all ages, reading the one book at the same time so that they can discuss it and share ideas both at home and in school and in the larger community. The book chosen this year is Once by Morris Gleitzman. The book  is about a young Jewish boy called Felix who is growing up in the 1930s in a Catholic orphanage in the German mountains.
